Homework
Homework
Homework is set each week and tasks are dependent on your child's year group. This is communicated at the start of each year and term by your child's class teacher. The tasks they are set are chosen specifically to consolidate learning and to help build factual knowledge to their long term memory (for example, times tables practice and spellings).
At Cedars Academy, we highly value speaking and listening and communication with families and for this reason, encourage children to talk to their parents and carers about their learning. Therefore, our homework is always set under the following headings:
'Talk About'
'Read About'
'Write About'
Not only does this approach give a variety of interesting tasks for the children, it encourages communication, consolidation and independence.
In addition to this, there is an expectation of daily reading, with regular record keeping in Reading Diaries, or reading set through Bug Club or Oxford Owl for those accessing Phonics interventions.
